The Xplore BC Offtrack Springpin is Fischer's backcountry binding in black, built on the Rottefella Xplore system. It is the first Xplore binding to carry integrated SpringPin technology, and it is made for terrain with no prepared track in sight.

SpringPin means the spring pins sit on the outer sides of the boot sole rather than in front of the toe. Two pins engage the sides of the boot, and that placement pays off twice. Range of movement improves on the flat and on the climb, because the foot is allowed to roll through, while stability improves on the descent, because the binding holds the boot from both sides instead of from the front alone. Putting the pins out on the flanks also makes it harder for ice and compacted snow to pack into the mechanism, which you notice every time you step in or out during a long day. Clicking in and out is easy for the same reason. The binding adds a 36 mm heel lift that flips up once a climb goes on long enough to tire the calf. The Xplore system as a whole was developed for better movement and stability while walking, climbing and skiing back down.

  • SpringPin: spring pins mounted on the sides
  • Easy click in and click out with gloves
  • Less risk of ice packing the mechanism
  • 36 mm heel lift: easier sustained climbing
  • Xplore system: movement and stability combined
  • Black finish: discreet on any steel edge ski

This binding belongs on a steel edge ski used away from groomed tracks. Free forward movement, lateral support on the way down and a heel lift for the climbs make it a sound choice for forest touring and open mountain days.
