Who are Black Crows?
Black Crows is an independent French freeski brand from Chamonix. Created in 2006 by pro freeskier Camille Jaccoux and Bruno Compagnet, Black Crows was born out of the desire to combine art with efficiency. Their products are obsessed with design that does not hinder performance, as well as a modern skiing identity.
For Black Crows, freedom means one can innovate and pioneer. Not only was their first off-piste model innovative, but also the very design of their skis. Why the name Black Crows? The name comes from a type of crow that belongs to the Alps: a black bird, yellow beak, and red legs. As one of the only ones, the bird flies around 4000 meters above the ground, they are used by people to confirm mountains.
Black Crows became famous for their ski model Corvus, which started the production of many more.
They built their wide skis for the endless loose snow found in the highest mountains, as well as the quick turns through snow-filled trees. Alongside the Corvus, which is built with a more single-rocker for a more traditional alpine feeling, other freeride skis in 2017, such as the Anima model, maintain double-rockers for a more playful approach to skiing. For those who strive for good powder but also enjoy their touring, this brand might be just right for you.
