Icicle Softshell Pant in Blackout is Oakley's women's softshell. The Wms designation marks it as the women's model, and the pant puts stretch, wind protection and movement first.
This is not a hardshell, and that is the point. The softshell is built in two layers on FN Dry 10K/10K with windproof construction and stretch woven into the fabric, so it tracks the leg instead of fighting it. The blend mixes nylon, polyester, spandex and PU, and critically taped seams keep moisture out at the stitching. A Hydrofree DWR finish makes the surface water repellent, so light snow and spindrift bead off while you move. In sustained sleet a softshell will not match a full hardshell, and that trade is deliberate. What you get instead is real breathability on the climb and on warm bluebird laps. A wide elastic panel at the back yoke opens up movement across the hips, and a single zipped pocket handles the essentials. Inner boot gaiters with a metal hook lock down low, and a zipped ankle gusset makes getting in and out easy.

This is the women's version, cut slim and weighing 345 grams. It suits an active skier or snowboarder who hikes a fair bit and would rather have movement and breathability than a maximum waterproof rating.
