Sakana 26/27

The Line Sakana is a swallowtail freeride ski from Line's Concepts series. The new version is built tougher and with more freestyle. Line rates it for intermediate to expert skiers.

The swallowtail is a dramatic cut-out in the tail. It decouples the far end of the effective edge and pushes the tail down in soft snow, so the tip lifts and you stay in a neutral stance. The tail now has a slight kick for smoother switch landings. With Thick-Cut Sidewall, the sidewall extends further into the core and there is more material over the steel edges. That gives a sidewall that stands up to hard impacts, such as sliding rails. Thin Tip means the core runs all the way through the tip and tail, with a glass-on-glass bond in both. If a delamination happens, it stops short of the core and stays limited to edge chipping. Carbon Flax Tape pairs carbon stringers with flax tape. That adds stiffness without the pingy, deflective feel of carbon. At 174 cm the ski measures 150-105-138 mm, with a 14.7 m radius and a weight of 1940 g.
