The Oakley Pro ZW Knit Balaclava in Cement is a close-fitting balaclava for skiers and snowboarders who stay out on the worst days of the season. It is knitted in a heavy gauge and shaped around the face.
The construction is seamless. The whole piece is knitted in one go, which leaves no offcuts behind and keeps seams away from the spots where goggles and a helmet press hardest. The yarn is a blend of 49 percent wool, 24 percent silk, 26 percent recycled polyamide and 1 percent polyurethane. Wool holds warmth even once moisture builds from the inside, silk keeps the surface soft against skin, and the polyamide absorbs the abrasion from helmet edges and zips. The heavy gauge insulates without turning stiff, so the fabric still moves when you talk or drink. The form-fitting knit contours the nose, cheeks and neck, and that close contact is what shuts the draught out. A knitted goggle strap detail runs across the brow in reflective yarn, styled to look like leather. The whole balaclava weighs 110 grams, so it disappears into a jacket pocket on lift days.
