Same Nordic motif, darker ground. The Oakley Mountain Fire Sherpa in Abyss Norway Pattern carries a pattern drawn from classic Norwegian knitwear and is built as a full-zip sherpa fleece.
The material is 100 percent polyester in a sherpa construction, meaning that lofted, curled surface that traps a lot of air for its weight. Air is what insulates, so sherpa returns more warmth than a smooth fleece of the same thickness. The zip runs the full length into a high collar, so you can close it right up when wind comes across your back and drop it open again as you heat up. A ripstop zip pocket sits at the left chest, and ripstop is tougher than the fleece around it, which is why it can take keys and a lift pass without wearing through. The Oakley patch logo sits on that chest pocket. Side pockets take your hands, and a cinch at the hem lets you trap warm air instead of letting it escape from below. Elastic cuffs close things off at the wrists.
- Polyester sherpa fleece: high warmth per gram
- Full zip: control from collar to hem
- High collar: covers the neck against wind
- Ripstop zip pocket: durable storage at the chest
- Side pockets: somewhere to put your hands
- Cinch hem: keeps warm air inside
- Elastic cuffs: close off at the wrist
Mountain Fire Sherpa works as a midlayer on the mountain and as an outer layer the rest of the time, and that double role is what makes it easy to pack.
