The LEKI Makalu FX TA is a rugged, folding trekking pole for mountain hiking and longer tours, where you need a pole you can fully rely on. It is light and packs down small.
The shaft is heat-treated aluminium (HTS 6.5) and consists of several sections that fold together with an ELD (External Locking Device) push-button and adjust steplessly with Speed Lock plus, an external clamping mechanism. The whole pole weighs only around 286 g. The grip is an Aergon Air in 2K Foam that combines low weight with stability and has a fully rubberised grip head, so you can hold the top during descents. A 1K Foam grip extension gives extra grip on climbs and traverses, and a Skin Strap 5.0 adjusts steplessly and is ultra-light and highly breathable. The Trekking Basket 2.0 is compact, keeps the pole from sinking into soft ground and can be changed by hand, while a robust Flex Tip ensures precise planting in varied terrain.
