The BCA Dozer 1T-UL is BCA's ultralight avalanche shovel for those who want to travel fast and light. It has an extendable T-grip, weighs 435 g and is certified to UIAA 156, the standard for avalanche rescue shovels. This version is green.
BCA cored out the blade to shave weight without giving up strength. The blade keeps a low profile and a flat edge you can stomp on. The handle is cored out as well. The shaft is ovo-concave: an oval with a concave radius on both sides. The shape makes the shaft stronger without adding weight and is designed to prevent breakage when you pry. It also gives a better grip in the palm, so your hand slips less while you dig.
