The North Ultimate RDM is a wave mast made from 100% hand-picked carbon fibres. North made it for wave sailors who want to get the most out of their North sail and combine top performance with real durability. The mast is made in Australia.
The carbon is laid up with Tow Preg. A machine lays the fibres around the mandrel, so every fibre runs continuously along the full mast and the wall thickness stays consistent. The result is a lighter mast with a faster response and no weak points. Variable Pitch changes the angle of the fibres without reducing the fibre count. That gives precise control over the bend curve, softness and stiffness, so the curve matches the sail design. The process makes every mast a one-to-one replica of the original design. Integrated Ferrule 2.0 uses the same process to make the curve smoother and softer at the ferrule joint, where a mast is naturally stiffest. A mushroom sand stopper, an oversized foam plug on top of the bottom piece, cleans sand off the top piece before you put the mast together. It also keeps sand out while you sail, so the joint does not seize.
