The JP Freestyle Wave ES 2022 is a windsurf board for freeride, wave and freestyle in strong wind. It is JP's all-water all-rounder, and the ES version uses JP's essential glass and Paulownia wood construction.
Shaper Werner Gnigler slimmed the nose outline and centred the swing weight. The result is a compact board that responds quickly in manoeuvres. The outline stays parallel through the middle, giving plenty of surface area for early planing and stability. The tail is still narrow for control at speed over choppy water. Up front, the bottom has more vee combined with double concaves, so the board sails smoothly and effortlessly. From between the straps to the tail the vee eases off and the rails thin out, which gives grip and manoeuvrability in turns and small waves. Rocker has been reduced through the centre for a loose yet stable ride on the water.
The board has three fin boxes: a central Powerbox and two MiniTuttle side boxes. The ES comes with one Freestyle Wave fin. Outboard straps and a single fin set it up for freeride. A thruster setup with the inboard straps tunes it for manoeuvres.
