1947, Annecy
Started with steel edges
François Salomon and his son Georges started out in Annecy in 1947 making steel edges for skis. Ten years later came the bindings, and by 1972 Salomon was the world's largest manufacturer of ski bindings.
Salomon's first ski boot came in 1979 and its first ski in 1990. The Shift binding came in 2018, after the idea had come up in meetings with Salomon's athletes in 2012.
