Hestra
Ski gloves and mittens from the village of Hestra. The family behind them has made gloves for four generations, first for forestry workers and later for skiers and mountain guides.

1936
From forestry workers to skiers
In 1936 Martin Magnusson began making gloves for the forestry workers around the village of Hestra in Småland. The following year a slalom slope opened at Isaberg. Skiers came by train, and they wanted gloves.
The company is still called Martin Magnusson & Co. and is owned by the fourth generation of the family.

Heli Ski
Made for the guides
The Heli glove was made in 1999 for the guides at CMH Heli Skiing in Canada. The liner comes out so it can dry separately, and the outer glove is Army Leather, Hestra's hard-wearing, impregnated goatskin.
Army Leather gets softer over the years, and with Leather Balm a couple of times a season the leather stays supple and water-resistant. Other models have CZone, a membrane that keeps water out and lets moisture escape.
