The Burton Ankle Flex Slider is the black plastic component that attaches the ankle strap to the binding baseplate. Engineered flex points make getting into the binding easier, because the strap drops into place instead of standing up stiff.
A complete strap on a Burton binding is made up of four pieces: tongue, slider, buckle and the strap itself. The slider is the thin plastic piece usually anchored on the big toe side, carrying a row of holes so you can move the anchor point and let the strap follow the shape of your boot. The Ankle Flex Slider is the ankle strap version of that component, built with deliberate flex zones so the strap can open and close without fighting back. Burton states that it works with the Double Take, Smooth Glide EST and Re:Flex systems, which covers the large majority of the brand's strap bindings. Sliders sit right at the edge of the binding and take cold, chairlift knocks and torsion on every single entry, so they tend to fail before most other parts.
- Anchors the ankle strap: links strap to baseplate
- Flex points: faster, calmer binding entry
- Double Take: fits Burton Double Take straps
- Smooth Glide EST: fits EST bindings with Smooth Glide
- Re:Flex: fits Burton Re:Flex bindings
- Black plastic: matches the rest of the binding
This spare is for snowboarders who have snapped a slider mid season and want the binding fully functional again. Broad compatibility plus built in flex means the binding both holds and feels right the next time you strap in.
