Magna-Tech: The technology you can't live without
ANON Magna-Tech is one of the best lens systems available on the market today - so good that you can basically change lenses on the go. For the 2021 collection, the system has been upgraded and fine-tuned to assure all winter sports enthusiasts that they can rely on the technology no matter the conditions.
Engineering and Design
To make the system easy to use and durable, ANON uses between 6 and 8 magnets that all lock the lens in place. These magnets are located around the edge of the glasses, there is never a problem with wind in the eyes and it takes no more than a few seconds to pop the glasses out and clip in a new one - smart, easy and fast!
ANON PERCEIVE lenses
The Magna-Tech system has been one of ANON's trademarks for several years now, and because it is so well developed, they can put more effort into developing the other elements of the glasses, which this year is seen in the form of a new lens. The PERCEIVE lens is super stylish and has a whole host of technologies behind it that make it really cool:
Firstly, the lens features High Definition Lens Injection, which sharpens vision and increases contrast. This technology helps you see different contrasts in the snow and makes it much easier, especially in the off-piste.
Second, the lens benefits from a super smart "Hydrophobic coating" that gives it a very low friction on the outside of the lens, allowing water and moisture to slide off while reducing fingerprints by 80%.
Weather changes
Thirdly, ANON has put a lot of energy into researching the different weather conditions, dividing the lenses into different categories. S4 for sunny weather, S2 for slightly cloudy weather and S1 for very cloudy weather. It gets even more precise when you add VLT (Visible Light Transmission), which shows how much of the light outside the glasses let in. As you can see in the image, the lenses intended for cloudy weather let in significantly more light to the eye and the lenses intended for sunny weather let in significantly less light.
2 lenses for 1 pair of glasses
So, because you can't make glasses that work for all weather conditions, ANON includes two lenses for the majority of their glasses, which includes Helix, Insight, M2, M3, M4 and Sync. This is convenient as the weather in the mountains is often fast and unpredictable and you can carry an extra lens in your pocket rather than an extra pair of glasses.
