The North Wave Clear is a 3Di wave sail, moulded in one piece from Dyneema and aramid fibres with no stitching and no seams. It is very light and has a low swing weight, so you can throw it around with precision. It has a clear monofilm window.
North made the sail for wave sailors with a very active style who charge down the line in demanding conditions. The outline is compact with a slightly reduced luff length for low swing weight in manoeuvres. The profile sits slightly forward, so the sail powers up easily while staying active, agile and playful. With 3Di, the moulding sets the shape, so twist and shaping are not limited by batten position. The skin transitions smoothly from thicker areas that hold tension and resist impact to thinner, softer areas. Dyneema absorbs a lot of energy, has very low stretch and resists abrasion, humidity and UV, while aramid holds the fibres together. The reinforcements are laid as tapes and thermoformed into one piece. That makes the sail strongest at the foot and clew, where wear is highest, and lightest up top, where it needs to twist. The Rock-it tensioner lets you adjust battens without tools at the water's edge, and EZ Clew works with both loop-loop-go and conventional outhauls.
