The Starboard Futura is a freerace windsurf board that carries on the test-winning model which started the freerace craze, built for high average speed with full control and comfort.
Futura builds on the iSonic DNA with a focus on maximum speed combined with control and precise jibing, and it targets intermediate to advanced windsurfers on long-distance runs, technical high-speed sailing and drag racing. The bottom has a double concave entry that flows into a clean, flat vee tail, and a more pronounced vee across the bottom improves control and comfort through rough chop. The rails are rounder and thinner than the iSonic rails, making the board more accessible and confident in rough conditions, and at the mast track a thinner profile lowers the centre of gravity and strengthens the drive. The proven Double Step Cutaways add release and increased speed. This version is built in Wood Sandwich with full lamination of Australian pinewood over PVC foam, a construction Starboard has used since 1995, giving durability, comfort and the distinctive crisp wood feel.
