The Tyrolia Protector+ Attack 14 GW is a freestyle binding with a DIN range of 4-14 for advanced skiers. It builds on the Attack series and adds Tyrolia's Full Heel Release at the heel. The binding takes both alpine and GripWalk boots. This version comes in Sand with a 95 mm brake.
Full Heel Release, or FHR, lets the heel release through 180 degrees, both horizontally and vertically. According to Tyrolia, FHR can lower release values in forward and especially backward twisting falls, which reduces the risk of knee injury. Tyrolia says the heel has 7 mm of elastic travel to each side and absorbs low, short-term forces, so the binding avoids pre-release. When the force exceeds the release setting, the heel moves through its full travel and rotates 30 degrees open to release the boot.
The toe is the FR PRO 3 with a horizontal spring. It delivers consistent release values, according to Tyrolia, and the revised AFD adjusts easily to different boot sole heights. Sharply defined edges on the toe protect the DIN scale window when you clean your boot. Tyrolia builds the Attack series to handle any terrain, from piste and powder to the park. Tyrolia states that the binding may only be used once an authorized sports retailer or technician has mounted, adjusted and serviced it.
