The Faction La Machine 5 Max is the widest model in the ultra-light, carbon-loaded La Machine touring family, built for powder-focused backcountry skiing in deep snow such as Alaska and Japan.
The ski uses a lightweight Paulownia wood core that delivers strength, good flex and vibration absorption without added weight. Two full-length carbon fibre layers sandwich the core to create torsional rigidity and response, while the Mustache Flex keeps the ski stable around the binding and progressively softer through the tip and tail. An extended tip and tail rocker with a reverse camber shape lifts the ski in powder, eases turn initiation and reduces the risk of catching an edge. The elliptical sidecut gives a longer radius underfoot for easy pivots and a shorter radius in the tip and tail. Faction builds the ski with a bio-based resin containing 35% plant-derived content and reintegrates production offcuts into its raw materials.
