ANKLE BUCKLE - Binding Spareparts

The ankle buckle is the one you crank hardest, which is why it is usually the first to give up. The Burton Ankle Buckle is the replacement buckle for the ankle strap and works with Burton's Smooth Glide tongues.

The ankle strap is the wide, padded piece that lies across the instep and pulls the boot down into the baseplate. The buckle is the ratcheting mechanism that runs along the tongue and takes up slack until the strap sits exactly where you want it. A Burton strap binding normally carries one ankle buckle and one toe buckle, and each complete strap is made of tongue, slider, buckle and strap. The tongue is the toothed plastic piece on the pinkie toe side, and the teeth inside the buckle have to match it exactly. This buckle is made for Smooth Glide tongues. The ankle buckle carries most of the load you put through the binding during carves and landings, and a lost or split ankle buckle effectively means the binding cannot be tensioned up to a rideable state.
